FastPass+ Tiers and Our Recommendations – Updated February 2020

Tips and Tricks

On February 6th, 2020 it was announced that Hollywood Studios FastPass+ Tiers would be changing once again. Just two weeks ago changes were made with the addition of Smuggler’s Run. Now, the addition of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will alter the tiers once again. In this post, I’ll review the latest FastPass+ tiers for each park and give my recommendation on the best picks for your original three FastPasses.

Magic Kingdom FastPass+

Magic Kingdom FastPass+ Tiers and Recommendations

Magic Kingdom is the only park that does not have a tiering system for their FastPasses. However, not all rides are available as a FastPass+. The following rides are available and you are able to select any three.

  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
  • Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
  • Barnstormer
  • Dumbo
  • Enchanted Tales with Belle
  • Haunted Mansion
  • “it’s a small world”
  • Jungle Cruise
  • Mad Tea Party
  • Magic Carpets of Aladdin
  • The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
  • Meet Ariel at Her Grotto
  • Meet Cinderella and Elena at Princess Fairytale Hall
  • Meet Mickey at Town Square Theater
  • Meet Rapunzel and Tiana at Princess Fairytale Hall
  • Meet Tinkerbell at Town Square Theater
  • Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor
  • Peter Pan’s Flight
  • Mickey’s Philharmagic
  • Pirates of the Carribean
  • Seven Dwarf’s Mine Train
  • Space Mountain
  • Splash Mountain
  • Tomorrowland Speedway
  • Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid

My top picks for FastPasses in Magic Kingdom are Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Seven Dwarf’s Mine Train, and Space Mountain. Seven Dwarf’s Mine Train is always one of the longest lines since it is still the newest ride in Magic Kingdom. Space Mountain may be the best rollercoaster in Magic Kingdom, and I think Big Thunder Mountain comes in second. I think Magic Kingdom FastPasses are the hardest to give a recommendation for because so much of it depends on preferences. If you love the classics, Peter Pan’s Flight is always a long line and could be a good substitute for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Meeting Mickey or the princesses also tend to have long lines if meeting characters is important to you.

Epcot FastPass+

Epcot FassPass+ Tiers and Recommendations

Tier 1

  • Epcot Forever
  • Frozen Ever After
  • Soarin’
  • Test Track

Tier 2

  • Journey Into Imagination with Figment
  • Living with the Land
  • Mission: SPACE
  • Pixar Short Film Festival
  • Spaceship Earth
  • The Seas with Nemo & Friends
  • Turtle Talk with Crush

My recommendation for a Tier 1 FastPass at Epcot is Test Track. However, if you haven’t been on Frozen Ever After yet and you are a Frozen fan, I recommend you select that instead as the line is ofter very long. I usually like to have breakfast at Garden Grill and rope drop Soarin’. I have also been able to grab a FastPass for Soarin’ during the day after using my first three.

As for Tier 2 FastPass selections, I recommend Mission: SPACE and Spaceship Earth. None of the Tier 2 rides here create super long lines and you can usually grab a FastPass to one of them after you have used your first three.

Slinky Dog Dash FastPass+

Hollywood Studios FastPass+ Tiers and Recommendations

These are the FastPass+ tiers for Hollywood Studios starting February 19, 2020. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will be added when the ride opens on March 4, 2020.

Tier 1

  • Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
  • Slinky Dog Dash
  • Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway

Tier 2

  • Alien Swirling Saucers
  • Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage
  • Disney Junior Dance Party!
  • Fantasmic!
  • For the First Time in Forever – A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration
  • Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular
  • Muppet*Vision 3D
  • Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster Staring Aerosmith
  • Star Tours: The Adventures Continue
  • The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
  • Toy Story Mania!
  • Voyage of the Little Mermaid

My choice for Tier 1 FastPass at Hollywood Studios has yet to be decided. Since Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is not yet open, I can’t tell you if I think it is worth the wait or how long the lines will be. Since it is the newest ride, it’s probably your best option right now for your Tier 1 pick. However, I don’t think ending up with Slinky Dog Dash or Smuggler’s Run would be a bad option.

For Tier 2 FastPass selections, I would recommend Toy Story Mania! and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster is a close third pick for me, but it has a single rider line that can sometimes help with the long lines.

As a reminder, Hollywood Studios most popular ride right now, Rise of the Resistance, is not currently offered as a FastPass+ option. The only way to ride ROTR right now is to be at the park at rope drop and get a boarding pass. Read our guide on how to get a boarding pass for Rise of the Resistance.

Animal Kingdom FastPass+

Animal Kingdom FastPass+ Tiers and Recommendations

Tier 1

  • Avatar Flight of Passage
  • Na’vi River Journey

Tier 2

  • Adventurers Outpost Character Greeting
  • DINOSAUR
  • Expedition Everest
  • Festival of the Lion King
  • Finding Nemo Musical
  • It’s Tough to Be A Bug
  • Kali River Rapids
  • Kilimanjaro Safaris
  • Primeval Whirl
  • Rivers of Light
  • The Animation Experience at Conservation Station
  • UP! A Great Bird Adventure

My pick for a Tier 1 FastPass for Animal Kingdom is a no-brainer. Avatar Flight of Passage is an incredible ride, and much better than Na’vi River Journey. I have seen wait times for Flight of Passage surpass three hours, so if you can grab a FP for it, do it.

For Tier 2 FastPasses I would suggest Kilimanjaro Safaris and Expedition Everest. Kilimanjaro Safaris is one of my favorite rides out of every park and lines can get long. I would recommend trying to get a FastPass for early in the morning as that is when the animals are most active. Expedition Everest is another good rollercoaster at Disney World and can attract some of the longer lines in the park.
