How to Have a Romantic Weekend in Disney World - Without Ever Setting Foot in a Park

Do and See

Disney World isn’t one of the world’s top proposal locations for no reason. Disney World can be one of the most romantic places. I’m sure when you think of romance you don’t think of standing in long lines, sweating all day, waiting to ride rides and meet people dressed up in costumes. Me either. In fact, you don’t even need to set foot in a park to have a romantic weekend at Disney World. Here is my list of the top romantic things to do at Disney World.

Stay at a Romantic Hotel

Stay at a Romantic Hotel

Disney has some of the best themed hotels in the world. While not all of them scream ‘romance’, some of them are perfect for a romantic weekend on property. My top picks for a romantic weekend at Disney are the Grand Floridian or Disney’s newest resort, the Riviera.

The Grand Floridian is Disney’s victorian-themed flagship resort. The property is gorgeous and features views of Magic Kingdom’s fireworks and the Electrical Water Pageant. Grand Floridian is also home to Senses Spa and some of the best restaurants on property.

Disney’s Riviera Resort is the newest resort on property, having just opened in December 2019. I toured this resort on my last visit and the rooms are gorgeous. The theming at the Riviera is based on the French and Italian Rivieras, the perfect setting for a romantic weekend. Some of the rooms even feature a beautiful soaking tub perfect for a bubble bath with your SO.

Indulge in Signature Dining

Victoria & Alberts

Disney dining isn’t all hot dogs and burgers and eating with Mickey Mouse. Disney has a category of dining they consider Signature Dining, which is a higher-tier of dining perfect for a romantic weekend.

My ultimate bucket list meal at Disney is at Victoria & Albert’s Chef’s table. Victoria and Albert’s is a AAA Five Diamond Award recipient and one of the top restaurants in Central Florida. You can book a reservation at the Chef’s Table in the kitchen, in the dining room, or reserve the private Queen Victoria’s Room for the ultimate romantic dinner.

If Victoria & Albert’s is a bit out of your price range (it’s a once in a lifetime bucket list meal), there are plenty of other romantic restaurants on property. I highly recommend a dinner at Narcoosee’s. Narcoosee’s is a seafood and steak restaurant located at the Grand Floridian. Book your reservation about an hour before the Magic Kingdom fireworks and arrive early to request a table with a good fireworks view. The great thing about this restaurant is that it is located off of the Seven Sea’s Lagoon, which means you also get the perfect view of the Electrical Water Pageant from dinner. Some of my other favorite romantic restaurants are Jiko, California Grill, Yachtsman’s Steakhouse, and Boathouse.

Go on a Carriage Ride

Go on a carriage ride

Is there anything more romantic than a carriage ride? At Disney’s Port Orleans Resort and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort (note: Disney’s Fort Wilderness carriage rides are currently unavailable until Spring 2020) you can take a 25-minute horse drawn carriage ride for $55. You can make reservations up to 180 days in advance. This could be the perfect way to propose, wink, wink ;).

Have a Spa Day

Have a Spa Day

Spending a day at the spa with your SO is both relaxing and romantic. Disney World has two full-service spas, one at the Grand Floridian and one at Saratoga Springs. Book a massage for two and then spend the rest of the day enjoying the steam room, whirlpool, and relaxation lounges.

Spend the Day on the Green

Play golf

If you’re more of an active couple, you can spend the day out on the greens at one of Disney’s three 18-hole golf courses. Each golf course has equipment rentals and lessons available.

Rent a Cabana at the Pool

Rent a Cabana

For a day of private relaxation, several Disney resorts offer the opportunity to rent a cabana by the pool. Anyone staying at a Walt Disney World Resort can rent a cabana at the Grand Floridian or the Contemporary. If you’re staying at the Yacht or Beach Club, you also have the opportunity to rent cabanas there as well. When you rent a cabana you can have padded furniture, TV, minifridge, a ceiling fan, and even your own dedicated cast member at the Grand Floridian and Yacht/Beach club.
